Where to Stay on 30A

Wondering where to stay on 30A? This local guide breaks down the best beach towns for families, couples, girls trips, luxury travelers, nightlife, and first-time visitors.

One of the biggest mistakes first-time visitors make when planning a 30A vacation is assuming 30A is one single beach town.

It’s not.

30A is a stretch of beach communities along Scenic Highway 30A, and each town feels completely different. Some feel polished and luxurious. Some are laid-back and local. Some are ideal for families. Some work better for couples, girls trips, or larger groups. And while the drive between towns may look short on a map, traffic during busy seasons can make choosing the right home base far more important than people realize.

I’ve had visitors tell me they booked a house in one town thinking they’d spend most of their trip in another, only to realize they were constantly driving, fighting parking, or missing the walkable experience they thought they were paying for.

The good news is there really isn’t a bad place to stay on 30A. It just depends on what kind of vacation you want.

Stay in Rosemary Beach if You Want Walkability and a Polished Vacation Feel

Rosemary Beach is one of the most popular places for first-time visitors because it feels easy.

You can walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, beaches, dessert spots, and evening cocktails without needing to get in your car constantly. The architecture feels charming, the town center stays lively, and it works particularly well for couples, girls trips, and families with older kids.

Restaurants like Pescado Seafood Grill & Rooftop Bar, Restaurant Paradis, and nearby Gallion's make dinners easy.

The biggest downside is price. Rentals can be expensive, and beach access rules matter, so always confirm what your rental includes.

Stay in Alys Beach if You Want Luxury

Alys Beach feels like nowhere else on 30A.

The white architecture, private courtyards, high-end homes, and slower pace attract travelers looking for a more elevated experience.

This is ideal for couples, luxury travelers, and smaller groups who care about design, wellness, and beautiful accommodations.

Dining at George's at Alys Beach and The Citizen keeps you close to home.

It’s quieter at night, so visitors looking for nightlife often venture elsewhere.

Stay in Seaside if You Want Activity and Classic 30A Energy

Seaside is iconic for a reason.

It feels energetic, walkable, and nostalgic. Families love it. First-time visitors love it. Groups who want activity nearby love it.

You can spend the day biking, shopping, eating at the food trucks, grabbing sunset drinks at Bud & Alley's, and walking everywhere.

The trade-off is that it can feel crowded during peak seasons.

Stay in WaterColor if You’re Traveling With Kids

WaterColor is one of the best choices for families with younger kids.

Homes tend to be larger.

Pools are common.

The pace feels calmer.

You’re still incredibly close to Seaside while having more breathing room.

Western Lake paddleboarding is also a huge bonus.

Stay in Grayton Beach if You Want Local Character

Grayton Beach feels more laid-back and less polished than some eastern 30A communities.

That’s exactly why people love it.

You’ll find art galleries, a more eclectic atmosphere, easier access to Grayton Beach State Park, and local favorites like The Red Bar and Chiringo.

This is great for repeat visitors who want something less curated.

Stay in Seagrove Beach if You Want More House for Your Money

Seagrove Beach is often one of the smartest places to stay.

You’re centrally located between eastern and western 30A, rental homes tend to be larger, and pricing can feel more reasonable compared to Rosemary or Alys.

You’re also close to Old Florida Fish House and Cafe Thirty-A.

Stay in Inlet Beach if You Want Newer Rentals and Easier Access

Inlet Beach has grown significantly and offers newer vacation homes with easier access to 30Avenue for dining and nightlife at AJA 30A and PROPER.

It often works well for larger groups and bachelorette trips.

So Where Should You Actually Stay?

If it’s your first trip: Rosemary Beach or Seaside

For luxury: Alys Beach

For families with young kids: WaterColor

For nightlife: Inlet Beach or Grayton Beach

For larger homes and better value: Seagrove Beach

For local charm: Grayton Beach

The best 30A vacations happen when your home base matches your travel style. That’s the difference between constantly driving around and feeling like you picked the perfect beach town.
