Visiting Seaside without burning out
Seaside rewards a light plan. I pick a few meals worth reserving, I expect the square to be busy in season, and I leave open space for beach time so the trip does not turn into a line-standing vacation.
Before you go
- Book dinners early in peak season, especially weekend nights
- Read your rental’s parking rules carefully. Walking beats circling
- Check whether your stay includes beach access logistics you need to register for
- Re-check hours for markets and seasonal events the week you arrive
Food worth planning
[[bud-and-alleys-waterfront-restaurant]] is an easy name people throw around for a reason, but the whole town is dense with options. I aim for one “nice” reservation, one casual night, and one flexible night where we can pivot if the kids melt down.
Beach days and getting around
Assume you will mostly walk inside Seaside once you are parked for the day. If you are day-tripping in, pad time for access and expect slower movement when the square is full.
If you are here with kids
Build in breaks between the beach and the square. Heat plus stimulation adds up fast. I keep snacks, a backup shirt, and a simple dinner plan that does not depend on a long wait.
If you are here without kids
Pick one sunset-forward dinner and one slow morning coffee loop. Seaside is built for wandering, so I try not to schedule back-to-back commitments.
